My stock navigation stops my subs from going as loud as they should be able to go?
I have a 2009 navigation system from the factory its not aftermarket and its in my mustang and I have 2 12 inch kenwood subs with a 2200 watt amp and they aren’t even as loud as my friends 12s with a 1000 watt amp and he has a pioneer head unit that doesn’t cap the bass lower than it should be able to go so his are a lot louder. Is there any way to fix this without buying a head unit?
head units dont really play much of a part in terms of the sub’s loudness except for the preamp voltage, but those dont really have much a difference on lower-end and stock head units.
the only things i can think of is that your amp has a low sensitivity rating or your subs have a low power rating (it may say 1000w max each, but in reality it could only pull about 300w RMS). you can definitley fix this without getting a new head unit, but it may require you to get new subs and a new amp.
