Adding a chip or tuner to your mustang does more than just add power, it helps improve the fuel economy too for those who can drive conservatively. Mustang Chips & Tuners boost horsepower and fuel economy by maximizing the efficiency of your engine. There are many different brand names available.  With so many different kinds of tuners and chips we can only cover a few today.  The best thing is that they amplify the improvements from other upgrades such as a Mustang Cold Air Intake or Mustang Exhaust System. A Mustang Chip or Tuner is a must have for any serious Mustang owner.

Let’s start off with DiabloSport.  They have two different types of tuners, the predators and the trinity.  Both of these tuners will produce roughly the same increases in horsepower and fuel economy, the average gains are 20+ hp on V8 applications and 1-3 miles per gallon better than stock.  The biggest difference between the two is the capability of the Trinity.  Trinity contains all of the great features you have come to expect from DiabloSport – a flash programmer, advanced diagnostics and a high resolution dashboard monitor combine performance, critical vehicle information and a clear understanding of what this information means.  They are both really handy tuners the trinity just has more capabilities and gives the user more control of the programming. The Diablosport Trinity and Diablosport Predator tuners both come with preprogrammed tunes.

The second brand on the to-do list is Bullydog products.  They offer four different types of tuners for the Mustang.  Bullydog has a fuel economy monitor that will walk you through your drive to maximize your fuel economy, telling you whether you are giving it too much gas or if you are using the brakes improperly.  Gains of up to 37% in fuel economy are not uncommon just by changing driving habits. this driving coach only acts as the coach and a digital gauge set up. It doesn’t tune the engine. The Triple Dog E3 Gas downloader is designed to provide added performance and economy.  Expect to see and extra 10-12 horses at the rear wheel and gain 1-3 miles per gallon.  The Triple Dog Gas is a programmer/tuner that will improve the horsepower by about 25 extra horses.  And finally the Triple Dog Gauge Tuner is a vehicle engine tuner, monitor, gauge and diagnostic device all in a single unit.  All of these except the fuel economy monitor will increase the horses, and improve the gas mileage for the conservative driver.

Most tuners will give approximately the same power and fuel boosts the difference between one and the other is the display screens, the user capabilities, and the skill of the people making the programming for the vehicle. Some tuners also come with additional tuner for those who have already added a cold air intake, exhaust system, pully, and others. They are also used by the people that add turbo chargers or superchargers, and if you’re looking to upgrade in the future to one of those things, this will be one needed item already in your possession.
