All models were replaced with the five-dial GT instrumentation in place of the original cluster with its strip speedometer. The six-cylinder cars went from 13- to 14-inch standard wheels and tires, and the models got new engine mounts to reduce vibration. With outstanding changes in Mustang parts, the car got a new look, deluxe seatbelts with reminder light and inertia-reel retractors. The convertible carries a desirable “pony” interior trim with wood-effect steering wheel and dash appliqués. It is complete with under-dash air conditioning. Ford pushed six-cylinder Mustangs were built and sold more heavily since 1966.
