2012 Mustang Boss 302?
Do you think the upcoming Boss 302 will be a better car than the 2011 5.0 performance wise? And do you think they would ever remake a 429?
Performance-wise? Yes. It will definitely be better than the 5.0GT. It uses the same engine, but has 440hp compared to the GT’s 412hp. It basically has an upgraded intake and a new tune to give you the extra horsepower.
Putting aside pure numbers, it also has a lot of other revisions, such as a 3.73 axle ratio from the factory, higher-rate springs, stiffer bushings, a drop in ride height, and adjustable shocks and struts. Note that there will also be a “Laguna Seca” edition of the Boss, which will include even more upgrades.
Keep in mind that if this will be a daily driver, and if you’re only interested in basic, straight-line performance, you could save a ton of money by purchasing the GT and modding it yourself. A simple intake and tune won’t cost you more than $500-600, and you’ll get the same straight-line speed as the Boss.
So, in summary, Yes! It will be a better car compared to the GT performance-wise. I don’t know if they’ll do the 429, though. I’d venture to say no, but Ford has been pumping out so many vehicles that nobody knows what they’ll do next!
