2006 Mustang Convertible Review

It’s should come as no surprise that discretionary spending has been one of the big casualties of the economic turmoil of the past few years. Consumers are more selective about what they spend money on now, and demand more in return for their outlay than ever before.
For the car industry, this has meant a premium on models that over-deliver in some way, which is why there has been so much enthusiasm for some of the hard-topped convertibles to have hit the market in the last few years. Classics like the Ford Mustang will always have their own niche, but more recently few more recent rivals have come to the fore. One in particular is the Volkwagen Eos, a four-seat hardtop with a retractable roof that hit the roads in 2006 as a replacement for the Golf Cabriolet. It’s a car that requires a bit of a compromise in terms of space when you’re running in convertible mode – that roof has to go somewhere – but the flipside is oodles of class, a lot of versatility, and some nice bonuses like iPod connectivity and Bluetooth as standard. The ride and handling have been widely praised in reviews, as has the engine.
A specialist used VW London dealer like has Mk2 versions on offer for around £18.490 – good value when you compare it to some of its competitors in the luxury convertible range like the BMW 3-Series or the Lexus IS. It’s not hard to see why some buyers, faced with the choice between a sensible city car and fun weekend cruiser, might be tempted to go for the best of both worlds.
