Rumors Abound Of A New Barracuda
Many Americans are nostalgic about muscle vehicles, and there is a rumor that the Barracuda might come back. Performance vehicles from domestic automakers have had retro styles for a while now. Lots of people would love to view the Barracuda return. The only thing is Plymouth does not exist anymore.
The Barracuda comeback
USA Today reports the design head of the Chrysler organization and head of Dodge, Roger Gilles, made an appearance at the Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show, or SEMA. The event is for those invited only. Only those in the auto industry are welcome. New projects had been a question he was asked. Barracuda was something he happened to mention. For a long time, people kept asking him about this. Bringing it back is something he seems serious about. It is still a rumor though. It wouldn’t be a bad thing though if the Barracuda were to return. It isn’t that unreasonable. Retro updates have happened on the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang recently. There was also a return of the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger. These both did well. Plymouth no longer exists though which made the Barracuda initially.
The MOPAR muscle has been missed
With all of the muscle cars, the Plymouth Barracuda had been really popular. Everyone loved Plymouth. This had been because the cars were cheap and performed well. You can get a 273-cubic-inch V8 or 6-cylinder within the first generation which cost about $2,500 from 1964 to 1966. The car got a face lift for 1967, started being offered with a 426-inch Hemi V8 and became a serious pony car. The Hemi 426 and 440 are both remembered for how powerful they are while one of the most valuable cars in the world right now are the rare HemiCuda convertibles. Production ended. This all happened in 1974 too.
Plymouth had been done
The Plymouth brand has been over for a when. Since 2001 it has been gone. Bringing back the Barracuda would put it under the Dodge or Chrysler name. This would be the only option.
